Jeff was the 25 year old son of wealthy parents but he was still not happy. He was a bit shy and only had a limited number of friends. He longed to find a girlfriend to share his interests and dreams. He decided to try a blind date on an Internet service. He was familiar with the process but never really tried it. He wanted to impress his potentials so he placed as much information on the webstie as possible. He even stated that his parents were wealthy.

He did not expect any serious responses and was surprised when he got over 65 replies. He felt really good to be noticed and he started to sift through the replies. Many of them were obvious non matches. One reply caught his eye it seemed to mirror everything that he was looking for.

This lady seemed to be his perfect match. He thought what are the odds, so he replied. They emailed back and forth for several weeks. She told him her name was Sheila. Sheila soon wanted to meet Jeff. Jeff thought this is great and they setup a meeting. Jeff did not think much about safety, after all this was a girl and he was a guy.

He wanted everything to go well. They met in a restaurant in her town. Jeff was feeling good about the date and knew it was going to be serious. Halfway through the date, Sheila received a phone call. She seemed upset to Jeff. And he asked what was wrong. She said her friend who was supposed to pick her up was in a car accident. She told Jeff that she needed to get to the hospital and had no time to wait on a taxi.

At moment they were approached by another guy who quickly grabbed Sheila. He placed a big knife around her throat and threaten to kill her if Jeff did not give him, his wallet and car keys. Not wanting the girl to get hurt Jeff complied. He told Jeff to turn around and do not look back for ten minutes. Jeff was sure Sheila was about to be hurt so he turned around and was startled.

Sheila and the guy jumped in Jeffs car and drove off together with big smiles. It turns out that they were a team that was pulling crimes like that all over the area. They were caught after several weeks and the vehicle recovered, but only after running up thousands of dollars on his credit cards.

Blind in very dangerous and serious business. People have lost their dignity and their lives in such situations. Long distance blind increases the odds. If you choose to find relationships in this manner you must learn to protect your self from criminals.

If you feel uncomfortable any time during the date you should quit the date immediately. Always retain your independence on a blind date. Have your own transportation so you can leave when you are ready. Carry your cell phone and tell a friend where you are going and who will be going with you. Leave a number where you can be reached. It seems like common sense but most people will not follow these guidelines.

Do not to go to places other than the place you have the date. Criminals sometime try to lure you into a trap by getting you in unfamiliar territory. Be careful how much information you give to a blind date there will be time for that later. Be clear about your intentions on the date. Never leave a drink and come back to finish it later. Order a new one or just do not drink. A minute is ample time to drug a drink. Above all be aware of your date and your surroundings.
